11:30 – 12:30 p.m. –German Roach Control as a Public Health Pest
About 3,500 species of cockroaches exist worldwide, with 55 species found in the United States. Cockroaches have been reported to spread at least 33 kinds of bacteria, six kinds of parasitic worms, and at least seven other kinds of human pathogens. The organisms causing these diseases are carried on the legs and bodies of cockroaches and are deposited on food and utensils as the cockroaches forage. Cockroach excrement and cast skins also contain allergens to which many people exhibit allergic responses. The German cockroach is found throughout the world in association with humans. The availability of water, food, and harborage support or hinder the establishment of German cockroach populations. APM strategies are the key to any German roach control program in a residential environment. This presentation will focus on using behavior biology, proper use of inspection tools, and treatment techniques to develop a successful German roach protocol.
Speaker: Tommy Powell, Technical Field Specialist, MGK

12:30 – 1:00 p.m. – Luncheon

1:00 – 2:00 p.m. – Mosquito Management

Speaker: Stanton E. Cope, PhD, VP, Technical Products and Services, Catchmaster

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Rodent Biology and Behavior for PCO’s
This presentation focuses on the idea of getting a PCO to “think like a rat” in a broader sense. We are concerned about rodents because they contaminate and consume feed and stored crops, cause structural damage, create fire hazards and spread disease to humans and animals. The presentation offers insights into rat biology and how it affects how they operate in our world so that we can help solve rodent related issues for our customers.
